Fabulous fall to continue
It’s going back into the 70s later on this week
After a warm stretch of weather for October in Massachusetts, it’s going to feel much more seasonable to start the week before another round of 70 degrees.
A mainly dry week of weather is in store for the region, while it’s expected to be rather blustery at times.
Cooler temps are forecasted for today and Tuesday, followed by a warm-up on Wednesday and Thursday.
“We’ll be trending more toward seasonable conditions to start the week, and then start trending toward warmer than normal as we get to the middle of the week,” said Bill Leatham, a meteorologist at National Weather Service’s Boston office.
“Then a system late in the week should bring us back closer to normal,” he added. “It’s a bit of a rollercoaster.”
After a beautiful mid-October day across southern New England on Sunday, temps should be hovering around 60 today.
“In the wake of a cold front yesterday, it should keep us in the fall-like feel,” Leatham said.
Some spot showers are possible across the interior of Massachusetts this afternoon, but no heavy rain is in the forecast.
Tuesday temps should also be around 60 degrees, with a chance for upper 60s along the Cape.
It’s expected to be breezy today and Tuesday, with the potential for 35 mph wind gusts.
Then the temperature rebound starts on Wednesday, as temps jump into the upper 60s and some spots could hit 70. Forecasters are predicting widespread low 70s for Thursday.
Following the brief warm-up, a cold front may bring a few showers to the region sometime Thursday night into Friday. Then a cool fall-like airmass could arrive by next weekend. Meteorologists are forecasting mid 60s for Friday, and then a drop into the upper 50s on Saturday.
