Disturbing information

-

I was stunned by the numbers of murdered police officers in this country (“Violence against the protectors” 10/19/21). I was also stunned by the number of injuries from attacks on police officers (which the media does not report).

I said I was stunned by these numbers but not really. When our country’s leaders and media continue to disparage and tie the hands of law enforcement in this country what do we expect?

There are two easy steps to help solve this situation. First, our leaders need to stop saying the words “defund the police” and start saying support the police who lay down their lives every day to protect people, even those who want to destroy them.

Second, have the media give as much coverage to murdered and injured police as they do when they decide a police officer was wrong in a given situation and obsess on the story for days and months. That being said, please do not forget, police officers are human too and make mistakes and when they do they should pay just like everyone else, not be judged and tried by the media.
