ANN M. MCCARTHY

McCarthy, Ann M. (Dobbins) of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, passed away suddenly on January 12, 2022, at 82 years old. Devoted wife for over 60 years to the late Lawrence V. “Larry” McCarthy, Jr. Beloved mother of the late Lawrence V. McCarthy, III and his wife Marjorie of Dorchester, Sean McCarthy and his wife Michelle of Dorchester, Joel McCarthy and his wife Deborah of South Boston, Allyson Dineen and her husband William of Quincy, and Shannon Dunphy and her husband Dennis of Windermere, FL. Loving daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Dwyer) Dobbins and cherished sister of Patricia Struthers and her husband Robert, and Margaret Aviles. Adored Nana to her grandchildren Joel, Hannah, Jimmy, Hayley, Donovan, Sean, Davis, Issaac, Maggie, Miesha, Oscar, Sophia and Aaliyah. Loving “Aunt” to Gregory Leach, and survived by many nieces and nephews. Ann was full of life all the time and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She never missed a sporting event, school event or any opportunity to share in their achievements. She was part of a very close group of girlfriends from South Boston who have stayed close since childhood and she held those friendships very close to her heart. Visitation in the O’Brien Funeral Home 146 Dorchester St SOUTH BOSTON on January 19th from 9-11:30am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in Gate of Heaven Church 615 East Fourth Street South Boston at 12:00 noon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
