A Brockton man was convicted of shooting another man in the head and killing him in 2018.

Kian Willis, 24, was found guilty Friday following an eight-day trial of shooting Patrick SequeiraFerreira, 27, of Brockton, to death in the area of Keith Avenue in Brockton on Nov. 12, 2018.

The two were known to each other, according to the Plymouth District Attorney’s office, through Willis’ work with the Office of Community Corrections — a Massachusetts probations service department — where SequeiraFerreira was a client.

Multiple news reports at the time of his arraignment described Willis as worried having contact with a client outside work could have terminated his employment.

A Herald request for court documents in the case was not returned by deadline.

Brockton Police found Sequeira-Ferreira lying on the ground when they responded around 6:30 p.m. that night. He had gunshot wounds to the head. He was first transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center before being flown to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say that their investigation found that Willis was the last person to have had contact with the victim and was at the scene when the shots rang out.

Willis is scheduled for sentencing Friday at 2 p.m. in Brockton Superior Court, the statement said.
