BPD makes 3 gun arrests in less than hour
Boston police made three firearms arrests in less than an hour this week, including an arrest of a 15-year-old boy.
Police were on patrol on Washington Street and saw a group outside a convenience store at 156 Washington St., at the corner of Morse Street, shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Two in the group then broke away from the others as the cruiser approached, and they entered a store in the area, police said.
The police followed them into the store and allegedly saw a 15-year-old walk out through an employee-only area.
An officer pat-frisked the boy and found nothing, but then in the employee area, the officer allegedly recovered a Taurus 9 mm pistol — with one round chambered and four rounds in the magazine.
They arrested him and charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device and unlawful possession of a loaded firearm.
Around 30 minutes later and a mile away at the corner of Talbot Avenue and Bernard Street, police on patrol saw a vehicle with two registration plates and pulled it over. The vehicle pulled over at 14 Standish St.
Due to unspecified observations, officers removed the four occupants of the vehicle.
One of them, identified as Mekhi Young in a police statement, “immediately turned away from officers.”
Officers allegedly recovered a P80 9 mm pistol with one chambered rounds and 14 rounds in the magazine.
Police also allegedly recovered a .45 caliber revolver with five rounds from another occupant identified as Errol Gaskill.
Young will be charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of a largecapacity feeding device.
Gaskill will be charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a loaded firearm.
