McNamara gives Revs win in Cincinnati
Midfielder Tommy McNamara scored the clincher in the 89th minute as the Revolution earned their first road win of the season, defeating FC Cincinnati 3-2 on Saturday night at TQL Stadium.
“I think Tommy made a bunch of big plays defensively and obviously got the winning goal,” said Revs head coach Bruce Arena. “What more can you say, an outstanding performance on his part.”
Right back Brandon Bye assisted on all three goals. Revs midfielder Sebastian Lletget opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he scissor kicked a Bye cross by keeper Roman Celentano to make it 1-0 with his second goal of the season.
Cincinnati (6-6-1, 19 points) tied the game when attacker Brandon Vazquez headed a Nelson cross by keeper Matt Turner in 26th minute for his seventh of the season.
Adam Buksa put the Revs (4-5-3, 15 points) up 2-1 in the 43rd minute when he redirected Bye’s cross for his 11th in all competitions and seventh in MLS matches. Buksa has scored in six straight MLS games.
Cincinnati tied the game 2-2 when striker Alvaro Barreal scored his first in the 58th minute.
