The proposed order to protect certain sensitive financial and identifying information in evidence in the case against Boston activist Monica Cannon-Grant and her husband, Clark Grant, has been adopted by the court.

“(A)ny social security numbers, dates of birth, home addresses, names of minor children, and financial account numbers of third parties” is to be redacted from evidence shared by the government to the staff of defense counsel for the Taunton couple accused of misusing donated and public funds connected to their charity Violence

in Boston.

The order signed U.S.

District Magistrate Judge Judith G. Dein on June 23 had been proposed by prosecutors, and agreed to by defense attorneys, on June 16 ahead of a joint status report that stated expected schedules for further evidence discovery and sharing in the case.

That report stated that the government had already released “249,000 individual items” in its discovery process over four productions so far in the case and that a fifth cycle was ready to go as soon as the court endorsed the protective order. It expected to finalize evidence releases over the next 30 days.

Dein released a new order on Friday stating that “the defendant requires additional time for the preparation of an effective defense, including time for review of the evidence,” which Dein described as “voluminous” in the order.

“It is too early to determine if a trial will be necessary,” Dein wrote in the filing. She set a new conference date of Aug. 24 at 10 a.m.

Prosecutors confirmed they’re seeking a fresh indictment in the case, which could change or add charges or defendants, during an in-person court appearance on June 10.

The couple were originally indicted in March with 18 fraud-related counts.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
