Mary “Marie” “Nonie” (Venuti) Butler passed away peacefully on February

21, 2023. Mary was born in Boston, MA on November 19th, 1933, to Anthony and Margaret (O’Connor) Venuti. She was the sister of Dorothy A (Venuti) Connolly. She grew up in South Boston, where she was affectiona­lly known as Nonie, she worked for John Hancock as a Legal Administra­tor. Marie married Edward R. Butler on August 12th, 1956. They lived in South Boston, MA where they raised their four Children, Sharon, Eddie, Susan and Brian. Marie was incredibly caring and welcoming to all, she loved everyone and made friends wherever she went. She made everyone feel special by giving her undivided attention to them. She was a loving mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, and devoted wife to her husband, Eddie and loving “mother” in-law to Sheila Butler. She was renowned for her parties and referred to as the “hostess with the mostest”. Marie was a vivacious and affable woman who lived her life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by her daughters, Sharon and Susan and sons Eddie and Brian, Grandchild­ren Kelly, Colleen, Michael, Sean, Haleigh and Hannah and her Great grandchild­ren, Declan, Everly, Kennedy, Claire, Delia, Griffen, Brayden and Mickayla. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Marie’s Family would like to thank all the staff at Marian Manor Nursing Home, especially the nurses and staff on 6 East. Visitation in the O’Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester St, South Boston on Sunday, February 26th from 4-7pm. A celebratio­n of life will be held at Gate of Heaven Church, 615 East Fourth Street in South Boston at 10:00am on Monday, February 27th .
