One killed in Roxbury shooting Saturday
An adult man died following a shooting in a Roxbury home Saturday afternoon, according to Boston police.
Around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a call reporting a shooting around 109 Weaver Way in Roxbury.
Once there, police found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Police remained around the scene through Sunday afternoon.
Few details of the case were released as of Sunday evening, and police are “actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident,” BPD said.

Mayor Michelle Wu responded to critique regarding the city’s response to violent incidents of this type on an interview aired on WBZ that was recorded late last week, saying “we will not stop until violence is eradicated from the city.”
Wu told WBZ’s Jon Keller she personally goes through data each week and is focused on coordinating strategies with public safety, public health and community advocacy sectors, “particularly focused on youth safety.” Overall trends show Boston is “heading in the right direction,” she said, citing 2022 crime stats.
Though total shootings and fatal shootings in 2022 decreased from five-year averages, both categories have spiked in the first two months of 2023, according to BPD crime statistics. Up to Feb. 26, there were six fatal shootings in Boston, up from a 4.8 five-year average, and 24 total shootings, up from a 19.8 five-year average.
“Nothing else matters in our city if people don’t feel safe and welcome in their homes in their own communities,” Wu said.
