TRIGGERING DEMOCRATS

DeSantis has the left on edge

- Listen to Grace Curley’s show from 12-3 every weekday on WRKO AM 680 and follow her on Twitter @G_Curley.

If you were to browse the social media feeds of some of the lawmakers from New York and California, you might think that life inside their deep-blue bastions was hunky dory.

After all, if that weren’t the case, then how on earth could these pols justify spending so much time obsessing over another state’s governor?

Take for example, Congressman Jamaal Bowman who serves New York’s 16th Congressional district.

This week, Bowman released a cringeworthy video in which someone (probably a miserable staffer), filmed him packaging up books to send to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (or as Bowman referred to him “Cousin Ron”).

Some of the books in the package included, “White Fragility,” and “How to be an Antiracist.”

“I know already you’re triggered, you’re probably falling out of your seat, you’re probably screaming and yelling. You’re probably going to throw it across the room. Don’t do it,” Bowman sarcastically told DeSantis.

Which of these men appears more “triggered” in the scenario, the governor of the fastest-growing state in 2022 who didn’t respond to the stunt, or the man filming himself passive-aggressively sending a care package to said governor?

If only Bowman took a break from his bizarre virtue-signaling and channeled that energy into— here’s a crazy thought— doing his job, then perhaps New York would be fairing a bit better right now.

In August, Fox News ran a piece titled, “‘Defund the Police’ Rep. Bowman sees 30% violent crime spike in Northern Bronx.”

The analysis looked at crime in Bowman’s district, including the city of Mount Vernon. Jessica Chasmar wrote that Mount Vernon “saw a 39.4% increase so far this year (2022) compared to 2021, with a 20.7% jump in robberies and 21.7% increase in burglaries.”

But Bowman has bigger fish to fry. He can’t be bothered worrying about burglaries when he is busy trying to bait Ron DeSantis into a Twitter feud. The man has unique priorities, you have to give him that.

Perhaps Bowman is taking cues from New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who recently tried his best to goad DeSantis into a separate but equally ridiculous social media spat.

When DeSantis visited the Empire State as part of his pro-police tour in February, Adams sent out this tweet: “Welcome to NYC, @GovRonDeSantis, a place where we don’t ban books, discriminate against our LGBTQ+ neighbors, use asylum seekers as props, or let the government stand between a woman and health care. We’re happy to teach you something about values while you.”

I have a few questions for the mayor.

First of all, if New York City is such an inviting utopia and Florida is such a backwards hell hole, then why do New York pols like Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez choose to vacation in Miami?

And, why does DeSantis flying migrants to Martha’s

Vineyard qualify as using “asylum seekers as props,” but when you bus migrants from the Big Apple to the Canadian border, it’s considered “reticketing” migrants and assisting them with their desires?

Focusing on another state and another governor as their boogeyman might make these New York leaders feel better, but it does absolutely nothing for their constituents.

Speaking of states that have fallen into despair, California is dealing with a lot of the same problems as New York, including excessive crime, rampant homelessness, and a notoriously high cost of living.

However, if you listened to Governor Gavin Newsom, you would never know it!

In fact, this week, while Californians were dealing with the aftermath of a blizzard, their well-coiffed leader was busy attempting to troll DeSantis.

Breitbart News reported that, “On Thursday, while many Californians were digging out of the snow, he used ‘Read Across America Day’ to accuse conservative states of ‘whitewashing literature and banning books.’”

These leaders are hell bent on giving DeSantis the needle at every turn and meanwhile they are missing in action on the issues facing their respective states. That could be part of the reason California and New York are constantly mentioned in news headlines alongside the words “mass exodus.”

Unfortunately for these

DeSantis-Deranged Democrats, the million dollar question is one that they can’t answer: If Florida and DeSantis are so terrible—and your liberal blue states are the pinnacle of woke perfection— then why, oh why, are all of your constituents moving to the Sunshine State?

The New York Post reported in January that “more New Yorkers fled to Florida in 2022 than any year in history, according to new data.”

The Washington Examiner reported that, “UHaul’s annual report for 2022 showed that people continue to head to the Lone Star State and the Sunshine State, while leaving California and Illinois.”

As President Joe Biden once said, “the proof of the pudding is in the eating.” The numbers don’t lie, even if the brilliant blue state bureaucrats responsible for said numbers do.

My advice for the smug, social media wannabes like Bowman, Adams and Newsom?

As evidenced by what we’ve witnessed in California and New York, clearly Americans don’t have an issue packing up and leaving a state if they believe it is being run into the ground.

Until that happens, I’d suggest these attentionhungry hacks focus less on Florida and more on their own backyards.
