LYDON, James N. “Bummy” Of Dorchester, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 30, 2023. Beloved husband of Louise E. (MacDonald) Lydon. Loving father of James N. Lydon Jr. BPD of Marshfield and Michelle A. Lydon BTU of Quincy. Cherished “Pa” of Amy C. Lydon, and her mother Michele Lydon. Son of the late Michael J. and Josephine F. (McDermott) Lydon. Brother of Patricia M. and her late husband Patrick Mullin of Dorchester, and the late Josephine E. “Chickie” Lydon and Michael J. Lydon Jr. Brother-in-law of Judith A. Lydon of Weymouth, Susan and her husband Carl Pauli of Quincy, and Jeanette and her husband Richard Wolan of Kingston. Survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Family and friends will honor and remember Bummy’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish on Friday morning, May 5th at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Bummy was a lifelong resident of Dorchester. He was a proud retired employee of the M.B.T.A. for 33 years. He was an avid fisherman, and loved the Red Sox and Patriots.
