DAvid MAhoney, Age 72 yeArs, of South Plymouth, died ThursdAy, MAy 25, 2023 After A Brief illness. He wAs the loving husBAnd of KAthleen (DonAhue) MAhoney And the son of the lAte John And Phyllis (LArsen) MAhoney. Born in Boston on August 18, 1950, he wAs rAised in ChArlestown And South Boston Before moving with KAthleen to Plymouth to rAise their fAmily. DAvid wAs A United StAtes MArine during the VietnAm WAr, where he proudly served his Country And wAs AwArded the NAtionAl Defense ServiCe MedAl. He worked As A postAl Clerk for the United StAtes PostAl ServiCe until his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed working Around his yArd And gArdening, golfing in his eArlier yeArs, And Being An Avid PAtriots fAn. He wAs A CommuniCAnt of St. BonAventure’s ChurCh in MAnomet. His greAtest joy CAme from pArtiCipAting in the ACtivities of his Children And grAndChildren, suCh As Being A Boy SCout leAder, A softBAll CoACh, And Attending the mAny footBAll, lACrosse, soCCer And volleyBAll gAmes of his grAndson And grAnddAughters. Besides his loving And devoted wife KAthleen, he will Be sAdly missed

He wAs the Brother of John “JACkie” MAhoney And his CompAnion BArBArA, the lAte JAnet Gruttner And her lAte husBAnd JACk, JAmes “Jimmy” MAhoney And his lAte wife Evelyn, the lAte RoBert “BoBBy” MAhoney, the lAte PAul MAhoney And his wife Dottie, Phyllis Flynn And her husBAnd ChArlie, the lAte ElAine Rooney And her lAte husBAnd Tom, Betty Byrne And her husBAnd Ed, the lAte EdwArd “Buddy” MAhoney And the lAte CArol MAhoney. He is Also survived By mAny nieCes And nephews.
A funerAl mAss will Be held in St. BonAventure’s ChurCh, 803 StAte RoAd, Plymouth (MAnomet) on FridAy At 10:00 Am, followed By interment in the NAtionAl Cemetery in MAssAChusetts, Connery Ave, Bourne.
