After blockbuste­r summer, here’s what Hollywood has for fall

After a spectacula­r summer with a pair of history-making hits in “Barbie” and “Oppenheime­r,” can Hollywood look to more of the same this fall?

Certainly there’s another threehour candidate in Martin Scorsese-Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest collaborat­ion, “Killers of the Flower Moon.” This adaptation of David Grann’s bestseller won raves at Cannes with its murderous true story set in America’s 1920s heartland. In theaters beginning Oct. 6 before streaming globally on Apple TV+.

SEPT. 8

Denzel Washington returns for the third time as “The Equalizer 3.”

And the third time’s the (hoped-for) charm for “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3.”

SEPT. 15

“Cassandro” stars Gael Garcia Bernal as El Paso’s flamboyant gay wrestler, “The Liberace of Lucha Libre.” A true story.

SEPT. 22

“Stop Making Sense,” a 40th anniversar­y re-release of Jonathan Demme’s acclaimed Talking Heads concert film, hailed as the greatest of its kind.

“Expend4ble­s” The fourth outing for the larger than lifesized veterans Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, 50 Cent, Megan Fox and Dolph Lundgren.

SEPT. 29

“Carlos,” a documentar­y on Carlos Santana, charts his musical life from childhood in Mexico to his breakthrou­gh at Woodstock in ‘69 and the decades that followed.

“Dicks: The Musical” stars Megan Mullally, Megan Thee Stallion, Bowen Yang and Nathan Lane in a comedy about twins separated at birth.

“Saw X” Jigsaw’s new “game” stars Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith and Steven Brand.

“Flora and Son” is John Carney’s (“Once,” “Begin Again”) new musical, about a mother and rebellious teenage son with Eve Hewson, Joseph GordonLevi­tt.

OCT. 6

“Dumb Money” A David vs. Goliath Wall Street story with Shailene Woodley and America Ferrera.

“Strange Way of Life,” an English-language short from Spain’s

Pedro Almodovar, is a queer Western starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal, coupled for release with Almodovar’s other short, the 2022 Tilda Swinton vehicle “The Human Voice.”

OCT. 20

“The Pigeon Tunnel” is Errol Morris’ latest doc, a look at the life and career of former British spy David Cornwell — better known as celebrated author John le Carré (“The Spy Who Came in From the Cold”).

“Priscilla” Priscilla Presley’s memoir “Elvis and Me” becomes Sofia Coppola’s inside look at the

teenager’s marriage to the king of rock n’ roll.

NOV. 3

“Fingernail­s” is a sci-fi romance with Jessie Buckley, Riz Ahmed and Jeremy Allen White (“The Bear”).

NOV. 10

“American Fiction” teams Jeffrey Wright and Tracee Ellis Ross in a drama about African-American literature.

“Dream Scenario” wonders how Nicolas Cage handles nighttime “stardom” — millions of strangers suddenly see him in their dreams!

“Journey to Bethlehem” Antonio Banderas plays Herod.
