O’Leary, Sullivan power Franklin past Putnam in impressive fashion, 81-55
Sean O’Leary netted 27 points while Caden Sullivan scored 26 as No. 3 Franklin (23-1) defeated No. 14 Putnam 81-55 in a Div. 1 second round boys basketball matchup.
In the Div. 2 second round, Jacob McLoughlin dropped 29 points and Nate Katznelson added 17 points as No. 7 Sharon (157) topped No. 10 Doherty 64-53.
Ederick Gonzalez (18 points, 20 rebounds, five assists) and Jayden Welch (12 points, six rebounds, two assists) set the tone offensively, while Andy Batista and Travis Sanchez and added ten points each and Brandon Antwine had six points as No. 8 Lynn Tech (18-2) bested No. 9 Georgetown 60-56 in a Div. 4 Round of 16 clash.
In the Div. 3 second round, Jaylin Williams Crawford finished with 23 points and five blocks while Jalen Hunter Coleman collected 16 points, four rebounds and six assists as top-seeded Charlestown (20-2) defeated No. 16 Abington 85-56.
Girls basketball
In the Div. 2 second round, Avery Gamble put in 18 points as No. 5 Oliver Ames (16-6) took down No. 12 Minnechaug 55-51. … Led by Carli DiMento, top-seeded Tyngsboro defeated No. 15 Georgetown, 62-45, in Division 4. DiMento became the program’s all-time assist leader and finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Gianna Donato added 20 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers.
Boys hockey
Luke Sardone (two goals), Caiden Brady and Chris McCarthy scored, and Aiden Emerick made 46 saves as No. 11 Winchester (14-91) took down No. 3 Catholic Memorial 4-1 in a Div. 1 quarterfinal matchup.
Girls hockey
In the Div. 2 quarterfinals, Zoey Madigan scored both tallies as top-seeded Duxbury (22-3) edged No. 9 Milton 2-1.
