Sarno pitches gem to lead St. John’s Prep past Mansfield

Jack Sarno tossed a complete-game two-hitter with eight strikeouts, fueling St. John’s Prep to a 4-0 baseball shutout of Mansfield. Driving in two runs each were Nic Lembo and Will Shaheen.

Freshman Max Boehm went five innings, allowing just three hits to go with a run as Wellesley (4-1) coasted to a 7-1 nonleague win over Medway. … John Sellon struck out nine in a complete game and Steve Madden batted in three runs on two hits, helping Abington (51) beat Cardinal Spellman, 5-3. … Sean Davock (double, three RBI) led from the dish and Brett Mulligan (complete game, one earned run, seven strikeouts) led from the mound as Catholic Memorial downed Franklin, 6-3.

Max King pitched six shutout innings, while Hayden Regan (three hits, bases-clearing triple), Peter Brooks (two hits) and Jake Joyce (two hits) fueled the Braintree offense in an 8-0 victory over Brockton. … With a triple from Michael Demaino (two RBI), a single from Jaiden Driscoll (RBI) and a walkoff double from Shea Newhall (three RBI), St. Mary’s (Lynn) (50) came back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Without Walls (D.C.), 6-5.

Will Labrie sat down nine over six innings of one-run ball, pairing with two RBI from Maddex Mendoza to lead Dighton-Rehoboth past Fairhaven, 6-1, in South Coast Conference action. … Will Trach tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts, as Shawsheen shut out Greater Lowell, 3-0, in the Commonweal­th Conference. … Kellen Tesini threw a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Lowell Catholic in a 3-0 win over Whittier.

Kyle Cummings hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth inning and also picked up the win with three shutout innings, as Tewksbury defeated Bedford, 4-2, in a non-league contest.

Boys lacrosse

In a nonleague tilt, Drew Bossi netted a pair of goals and dished out two assists, as St. John’s Prep defeated Bishop Guertin (N.H.), 10-7 Tuesday. … Ryan Woeller and Ryan O’Donnell netted three goals each as Barnstable defeated Plymouth North, 13-6. … Mac Edgerton scored six goals as Manchester Essex stormed Woburn 14-4. … Cam Guedner scored a hat trick as Tewksbury won 11-5 over Amesbury.

Apponequet’s Will Levrault led the offense with four goals for a South Coast Conference win over Old Rochester Regional, 9-4.

Girls lacrosse

Shannon Balfe and Bailey Kelly each netted six goals to help lead Whitman Hanson past Archbishop Williams, 16-9, in a non league matchup.

Softball

Sophie Glavine belted a grand slam to power Lexington to an 11-6 Middlesex League win over Winchester. … Erin McCarthy singled, doubled and tripled, while Eva Boudreau and Alli McElligot had three hits each and Izzy Maila struck out eight over six innings as Wilmington bested Melrose, 17-0.

In a non league matchup, Lucy Latour had two doubles, two singles, two RBI, and scored three times to lead Dighton-Rehoboth over Fairhaven, 12-2. … Seventh-grader Maddy Andrade hit a walk-off single to give Latin Academy an 11-10 win over Boston Latin. … Paige Taylor (one RBI, one run), Devon Morris (two runs), Taylor Marino (two RBI), and Katie Berg (two RBI, one run) led the offense for Oliver Ames to defeat East Bridgewate­r, 7-6 (8i). … Mylee Ramer pitched a gem with 14 strikeouts, no walks and three hits, and Caitlyn Deveny went 2-for-3 with five RBI and a three-run home run to end the game as Bishop Feehan beat Bridgewate­r-Raynham 13-0 in five innings.

In a Greater Boston League contest, Nevaeh Eth (one HR, six RBI, four runs), Emma Chevalier (two RBI, two runs), and Mckenna Duncan (one run) pushed Lynn Classical past Somerville, 21-2.

Volleyball

Larry Claudio supplied 20 assists for Revere in a 3-0 Greater Boston League victory over Everett.

Armaan Chowdhury had eight kills, five blocks and two aces, while Marco Gomez Cabo finished with 26 assists, seven kills and four blocks as Andover defeated Essex Tech 3-0 in a nonleague contest.
