BRAWLEY, Margaret (Wacker)

Of Brookline, Massachuse­tts, passed away in comfort at home with her loving husband and caregiver on September 17, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves her beloved husband, Richard Warren Brawley of over 28 years. A loving and loyal daughter, she joins her late father, Warren E.C. Wacker, MD, mother, Ann M. (MacMillan) Wacker, father-in-law, Harry Ellis Brawley, Jr., and mother-inlaw, Barbara N. Barry.

Margaret is survived by her brother, John F. Wacker and wife Nancy J.B. Wacker of Richland, WA, stepmother-in-law, Ellen T. Brawley of Mt. Desert Island, ME, brothers and sisters-inlaw, Dragon (Harry) Ellis Brawley, III and caring wife Christen Brawley of Burlington, VT, Daniel Uechi Brawley and wife Stacey Brawley of Titusville, PA, many loving and devoted cousins including Ann MacMillan, Mark and Jacqui MacMillan, and Mary Elizabeth Ortiz. She also leaves behind loving and caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

These include nieces, Margaret Ann Wacker and Alexandra Wacker Hauff, Alexis Hebert and Morgan Brawley, nephews, Hunter and Tanner Brawley, great-niece, Evelyn Annette Wacker, great-nephews, John Frederick Hauff, Malcolm Hauff, Amrik Hauff, Bruce A. Barry, Jennifer N. Barry, Kristin I. Barry, Shelly R. Barry, and many others.

Margaret Wacker Brawley, a communicat­ion executive, received her BA from Carnegie Mellon

University in 1974. After graduating, she moved back to Brookline, MA to become Promotion Specialist at Millipore Corporatio­n, Bedford, MA (1974-77). In 1977, Margaret moved to San Diego, CA to become Director of Advertisin­g at IVAC Division, Eli

Lilly Corporatio­n, San Diego (197779), and later, District Sales Manager, Los Angeles district (1979-80). In

1980, she moved back to Brookline to become Business Unit Manager, Sage Division of Orion Research, Cambridge, MA (1980-81). In 1981, Margaret returned to Millipore Corporatio­n as the Director Communicat­ions, Lab Products Division (1981-82), Corporate Communicat­ions Manager (1982-88), Human Resources Project Manager (1989-93), Senior Account Manager, Bioscience Division (1993-94), and finally Manager, Technical Publicatio­ns and Life Science Promotion, Laboratory & Health Care Products Division (199498).

Margaret’s diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1980 and other health issues throughout her life only hardened her resolve to achieve a rewarding business career and fulfilling personal life. Between MS episodes and times of sickness and disability, she developed a Carpe

Diem attitude by traveling in Italy with her family, honeymooni­ng, and vacationin­g with friends and family on Grand Cayman, Mount Desert

Island and Cape Cod. Margaret had a love of all animals but especially small animals. She cared for a plethora of hamsters growing up. Later, she and Richard were lucky to experience the delightful companions­hip of many fancy pet rats over the course of almost 20 years.
