KASSELMANN, Barbara Claire “Art”

Aged 85, passed away peacefully at Marian Manor on December 21st,

2022.

She was born on August 6th, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Charles James Kasselmann and Eleanor Claire Kasselmann, nee Stickel.

Barbara married Ronald Heinen in 1956, and started a family with the birth of son, Stephen in 1957; twins, Terry and Tom in 1959; daughter, Kathleen in 1961; and daughter, Karen in 1962.

The young family settled in Dayton, Ohio, where Barbara raised the children and went back to school to get her college degree from Wright

State University and took a job with Owens-Corning in their public relations department.

In 1990, Barbara moved to Boston to be closer to family and flourished in the New England environmen­t.

An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, she taught English classes at Northeaste­rn University and was an accomplish­ed poet with several published works over the years. She wrote for various publicatio­ns including the Boston Globe, The Philadelph­ia Enquirer, and American Cemetery Magazine.

In 2000, Barbara became a grandmothe­r and was equally as enthusiast­ic in the lives of her two granddaugh­ters, Naomi and Fiona.

Blessed with a tremendous amount of curiosity, Barbara was one of the most intriguing people to talk to about any number and variety of topics. She was a master of the English language, possessed a razor-sharp wit and filled every room that she entered with her infectious energy.

Barbara is survived by her five children; her two granddaugh­ters; and sister, Chris Kasselmann.

A memorial service was held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston on December 28, 2022, where she will be interred.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Marian Manor Nursing Home in South Boston are welcome.
