SIMMONS, Ronald Joseph

-

Age 77, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. For 34 years he was the loving husband of Nancy J. (White) Simmons, and he had been grieving her loss with a broken heart since she passed away in October of 2022.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Harold J. and Esther (Murphy) Simmons, he became a longtime resident of Natick, MA, after raising his family in Abington, MA.

He is survived by his loving family and friends, his daughter, Debra Contrino and her husband, Matthew; their two sons, Angus and Ronan; and their two daughters, Morgan and Sloane; his daughter Tobie Simmons and her partner, John; and their two sons, Marzen and Jove; and his former wife Patricia (Hall) Simmons. He was a dear brother to Paul, Alan, and Susan, and a beloved uncle, cousin, and friend.

Ron was a proud patriot, who was honored to serve his country as an electrician in the United States Naval Submarine Service, after graduating from Weymouth High School, where he excelled in athletics. He earned his Associate Degree in Business Management at Newbury College in Brookline, MA. He was a very brilliant man, and he had an exceptionally successful career as a Sales Manager, specializing in high-tech hardware and software, working for such companies as NEC Corporation of Japan, Xerox Corporation, and North American Philips.

In his retirement, he remained a dedicated handyman and backyard tinkerer, taking great satisfaction from working on his cars, refurbishing intricate machines, and fixing all kinds of things for people, just for fun. One could almost always find Ron busy working on something outside, in his favorite place to be, the tent. He enjoyed playing golf, and he loved to play his guitars and listen to great music with friends, making them laugh with his wild stories and rowdy sense of humor. He and his love, Nancy, enjoyed watching the Patriots together, going for rides in his classic car, listening to talk radio, and grilling burgers outside for the grandkids.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 4, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Patrick Church, 46 East Central Street, in Natick, MA, and there will be a Burial Service the same day, at

1:30 p.m., at Massachusetts National Cemetery, in Bourne, MA. Guests are welcome to attend either one or both of these services in honor of Mr. Simmons.
