PETERS, Samuel Kittredge

-

Died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 10, just shy of his 71st birthday. He was born December 18, 1952, in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, the fourth of four children. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Stott Peters; his father, Lovett Chase Peters; and his older brother, Charles Adams Peters, II. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Binkerd Peters Stephenson of Houston, TX; his brother, Daniel Stott Peters and wife, Kellie of Cincinnati, OH; and sister-in-law, Gayle Peters Coates of Williamsport, PA. He doted on his seven nieces and nephews and particularly loved holding them as babies. His New England Spencer, Forkel and Stott cousins were wonderful in including him and his electric wheelchair in many visits and holiday celebrations.

Sam loved his home and all his friends & staff at Stott House at the Charles River Center in Needham, MA. Born with cerebral palsy, nothing could affect his lifelong can-do attitude. Sam enthusiastically embraced the day program at the Charles River Center. His love of flowers came from his mother and his love of travel came from early car trips with the family. He was a pro at planning his trips, including the Special Olympics each year. His dad made him a special board to hold his medals.

The family deeply appreciates the Staff ’s extraordinary love and care that Sam received at the Charles River Center for over forty-five years!

A private Memorial Service is planned at a later date.

For those who wish to honor Sam’s memory, donations are gratefully accepted at Charles River Center, 59 East Militia Heights Drive, Needham, MA 02492.
