HOLBROOK, Alan L.
Beloved father and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully at the age of 90, surrounded by friends and family.
Born to Elmer and Genevra Holbrook in Abington, Alan grew up in a loving family environment. He is survived by his brothers, Herb and Peter, both of whom he shared a special bond.
Alan is also survived by his children and their spouses, Mark and Elaine Holbrook, Brian and Melanie Holbrook, Jennifer Holbrook, Marylee and Ralph Morgan. His 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Michael Northup, Joseph Andrade, Suzanne Deibel, Nicole Barrows, Alan Morgan, Rachael Morgan, Jason Deibel, Jayme Northrup, Jackson Northrup, Maya Northrup and Caleb Andrade, held a special place in his heart.
Education played a significant role in Alan’s life. He graduated from Abington High School and furthered his studies at the Bentley School of Accounting. Alan’s determination and thirst for knowledge led him to pursue a master’s degree in accounting from Northeastern University. He was a director of the Cooperative Bank League, a member of the management committee of the U.S. Savings and Loan League and an instructor at the Savings and Loan Institute.
Professionally, Alan excelled in the banking industry. He began his career as the vice president for Rockland Cooperative Bank, and later transitioned to Canton Cooperative Bank, where he served for over 50 years as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. His expertise and leadership made a lasting impact and he retired as a valued member of their board of directors.
Alan’s dedication extended beyond his professional life. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. He was honorably discharged in 1962.
Amid grief, we remember not only Alan but also his beloved wife, Janet Holbrook, who predeceased him on February 8, 2022. Visiting Hours will be held in honor of both Alan and Janet on Monday, January 15, 1:00 to 3:00, at Sullivan Funeral Home in Hanover, MA, followed by a Celebration of their Lives at Cask ‘n Flagon in Marshfield, MA. We invite friends to join us in remembering this remarkable and beautiful couple, sharing stories and memories of the good times with them. It is our collective intention to create an uplifting remembrance, reflecting the joy and love that defined their life together.
