Beloved father and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully at the age of 90, surrounded by friends and family.

Born to Elmer and Genevra Holbrook in Abington, Alan grew up in a loving family environmen­t. He is survived by his brothers, Herb and Peter, both of whom he shared a special bond.

Alan is also survived by his children and their spouses, Mark and Elaine Holbrook, Brian and Melanie Holbrook, Jennifer Holbrook, Marylee and Ralph Morgan. His 11 grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren, Michael Northup, Joseph Andrade, Suzanne Deibel, Nicole Barrows, Alan Morgan, Rachael Morgan, Jason Deibel, Jayme Northrup, Jackson Northrup, Maya Northrup and Caleb Andrade, held a special place in his heart.

Education played a significan­t role in Alan’s life. He graduated from Abington High School and furthered his studies at the Bentley School of Accounting. Alan’s determinat­ion and thirst for knowledge led him to pursue a master’s degree in accounting from Northeaste­rn University. He was a director of the Cooperativ­e Bank League, a member of the management committee of the U.S. Savings and Loan League and an instructor at the Savings and Loan Institute.

Profession­ally, Alan excelled in the banking industry. He began his career as the vice president for Rockland Cooperativ­e Bank, and later transition­ed to Canton Cooperativ­e Bank, where he served for over 50 years as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. His expertise and leadership made a lasting impact and he retired as a valued member of their board of directors.

Alan’s dedication extended beyond his profession­al life. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, demonstrat­ing his unwavering commitment to his country. He was honorably discharged in 1962.

Amid grief, we remember not only Alan but also his beloved wife, Janet Holbrook, who predecease­d him on February 8, 2022. Visiting Hours will be held in honor of both Alan and Janet on Monday, January 15, 1:00 to 3:00, at Sullivan Funeral Home in Hanover, MA, followed by a Celebratio­n of their Lives at Cask ‘n Flagon in Marshfield, MA. We invite friends to join us in rememberin­g this remarkable and beautiful couple, sharing stories and memories of the good times with them. It is our collective intention to create an uplifting remembranc­e, reflecting the joy and love that defined their life together.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the North and South Rivers Watershed Associatio­n or a charity of your choice, in Alan’s memory.
