A LETTER FROM THE CEO

-

Dear Bostonians,

As we turn the corner from March into April and from winter to spring, we look forward to celebrating two of the most iconic 90-degree turns in sport, and certainly in Boston:

♦ Right on Hereford. Left on Boylston. On April 15, 2024, our streets will again be pulsating with the electric energy generated by thousands of Boston Marathon participants and cheering crowds supporting them from Hopkinton to Copley Square. ♦ Since 1897, the Boston Marathon has amplified our city’s resilient spirit, and Boston Globe journalists have been there every step of the way, capturing historic moments and bringing powerful stories to light, from the groundbreaking inclusion of women athletes in the late ‘60s to the establishment of the wheelchair division in 1975. In 2013, our urgent reporting played a pivotal role in uniting the community after tragedy struck. More than a decade later, our city proudly stands #BostonStrong. ♦ Boston’s marathon, among the most prestigious, draws elite athletes from around the world who make headlines and shatter records. But the spirit of Boston shines brightest through the thousands of charity runners who uplift important causes in service to our community. ♦ We are thrilled to partner with another great Boston institution, Bank of America, to present 15 inspiring stories of marathoners who are championing this spirit of giving. ♦ We invite you to read these inspiring stories and to join us in celebrating the 2024 Boston Marathon.

Sincerely,

Linda Henry CEO, BOSTON GLOBE MEDIA
