RACKING THEM UP

Greg I wanted to try something new and see where it would go. I went in to the date with an open mind.

Kat My friends and I read the column and I thought I would give it a try. Why not?

Greg I got ready after work and headed toward the restaurant.

Kat I FaceTimed a friend to help me pick out an outfit. I was nervous but looking forward to meeting my date.

Greg She walked around the corner and said hello. She had really pretty hair. I really liked her outfit and earrings, and she had a pretty smile. Kat I thought he was cute — I liked his beard!

IN THE POCKET

Greg It didn’t take long at all for us to really break the ice and get to know each other.

Kat I learned he likes bowling and playing pool. He has a 14-month-old corgi named Enzo (I love corgis). We talked about travel plans and his upcoming trip to Spain. We shared roommate stories — a classic Boston experience. There weren’t any awkward pauses in conversation.

Greg I discovered Kat really loves the Bleachers and has seen the band 15plus times (with three more coming). She likes to travel a lot, and to go to concerts. She likes to try new things at least once for the fun of it, and she has been ice skating basically her entire life. I talked about some of the hobbies I enjoy, like camping, hiking, and playing pool. Kat He said he liked Bleachers (my favorite band) and I thought, I could hang out with this guy again.

Greg We seemed to relate on being adventurous and being willing to try new things.

Kat We share the mind-set of being open-minded to try things even if we think we won’t like doing them.

Greg I ordered a rigatoni dish, which was very good. The chocolate cake we split was delicious.

Kat Service was great! I had the mushroom ravioli, and it was very good.

Greg I just genuinely enjoyed her presence and being able to talk with her. I enjoyed the entire dinner.

Kat I felt comfortable. We asked each other questions back and forth. I liked that he talked about his family a lot, since I also spend a lot of time with my family.

RUNNING THE TABLE

Greg We had a nice 10-minute walk to get back to the subway.

Kat We walked together to the Green Line, then we parted ways naturally.

Greg The date ended with a hug and an exchange of numbers. We left wanting to go on a second date, doing something we both like to do.

Kat We exchanged numbers. We hugged, since it felt right.

SECOND DATE?

Greg Yeah. The plan is maybe minigolf or bowling.

Kat Yes, we might do something in the next few weeks. I’m interested in getting to know him more.
