THE CHANGEUP

Saving Some Weight and Adding Some Bling!

- Words and Photos by Chris Hamilton

After all that, a budget friendly set of wheels and tires were ordered and installed, but we definitely overestimated our diameter size. The 22-inch wheels look great tucking under a classic truck fender, but an

86-pound steel wheel with a thin tire is not fun for highway driving. So, to finish up our project, we decided to add a little bling with a chrome grille and chrome 20-inch U.S. Mags BLVD - U126 wheels. The smaller rim will give off more room for the tire, which will make the truck ride better. Plus, were saving almost 100 pounds of weight just by changing the wheels!

A few other last-minute modifications include a matching chrome grille from Brothers Truck Parts and some super nice billet taillights from Bluesteel Customs. Finally, a new set of fender badges will give this old bird some new style.

This truck can be reliably driven every day and it doesn’t have to be babied in parking lots. Scratches and dings will come, but the custom patina body finish artistically hides everything, and the power steering lets it drive like a modern truck. Not everyone needs a multi-year project truck to be happy and content. Some guys just want to buy a truck, make it more modern and drive the hell out of it. That was the goal with this one, and we think it hit the mark.

After the interior is complete and the new one-piece windows are installed, we will hit the road and meet you at an event near you. Check out what we recently did to the Raven!
