The final Gordon Hospital Farmers’ Market of the summer will be held this Thursday, August 30, from 6-8 p.m. on the Gordon Hospital campus. In addition to the fresh produce and other goodies at the market, live music featuring Brandon McDaniel will be presented to celebrate the success of this year’s market.

Fourth Annual First SGT. John D. Blair Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by Sons of American Legion Post 47, will be Friday, August 31. The proceeds go to community service charities. There will be a four person select shot for $100 per player with a 100 percent pay back. The shot gun start time will be 12 p.m. Bring your own team, and team will be flighted based on random nine hole draw. Winners will be determined by total 18 hole score. Winners will be announced at the American Legion after the tournament. There will be Bar-B-Que and Fixings provided. There will also be a drawing for door prizes. The Fairmount City Library is having a 4 hour half price book sale fundraiser on Saturday, September 1 from 10 am until 2 pm. All “For Sale” items will half of the price marked. For more informatio­n call 706-337-3110.

Music at the Mountain event, Benefiting homeless pets at the Special Events Meadow, Stone Mountain Park, 1000 Robert E. Lee Drive Stone Mountain, GA 30083. Music at the Mountain is an allday fundraisin­g festival celebratin­g the best of American music and benefit for Urban Pet Project and Animal Rescue League of Northwest Georgia. Each dollar raised through ticket sales and donations goes to the care of these animals. A two time Grammy Award nominated artist with both Platinum and Gold albums, Country Weekly’s #1 Hottest Bacheloret­te, the founders of the musical genre “alterna-grass”, a Grammy Award nominated veteran of the American musical scene, an emerging superstar pop band and the internatio­nal touring sensations who reached #4 on the European charts last year. Sarah Williams Memorial Mud Volleyball Event - The Optimist Club is hosting this family fun event on Saturday, September 8th, at the Calhoun Rec Center. Jule Medders will perform live at the Harris Art Center on Saturday, September 8 at 7 p.m. All the proceeds will go to the Jordon Pam – Wanda Westmorela­nd Scholarshi­p Fund for local highschool students.
