United Way adds new board members, plans Unity Run
The 2012-2013 United Way of Gordon County Board of Directors will include six new members.

“These volunteers bring a wealth of experience to our board,” said board President Todd Harrison “They are involved in the Gordon County community and represent major employers as well as small businesses. The United Way of Gordon County Board of Directors primary functions are to raise funds for the 18 United Way agencies working in Gordon County, allocate the funds collected, and to bring awareness to the community of the resources these agencies provide.”
Vickie Spence, Executive Director explains, “The board is consists of 23 community volunteers who provide outstanding service to Gordon County. Each year the board leads the United Way Fund Campaign. This year the goal for the 2013 Campaign is $550,000.00. This is an increase of $50,000.00 over the last two years. Gordon County residents have been generous and this goal is certainly one this community can achieve.”
19th annual Unity Run set for Sept. 25
Kicking off the 2013 United Way Campaign for the 19th year is the Unity Run set for Tuesday, September 25. The 1-K Kid’s Run begins at 5 p.m. and the 5-K Run/Walk is set to start at 6:30 p.m.
Both runs start
at Gordon Central High. The 1-K Kid’s Run finishes on the track at Ratner Stadium on the Gordon Central Campus. The 5K finishes in downtown Calhoun at the intersection of Court St. and Park Ave.
