“Beyond the Mountain” at the Harris Arts Center will be presented on August 21 through September 13. Photograph­er Lisa Schnelling­er’s larger than life images of the people and places of Afghanista­n printed on silk. The public is invited to a lecture and artist’s reception on September 6, from 6:30-8:30pm. Free Admission. Harris Arts Center hours: Monday, 9am-6pm; Tuesday-Thursday, 9am-4pm; Friday 9am-2pm.

Harris Arts Center Presents Calhoun’s Got Talent at the GEM Theatre July 21, July 28, and August 4 at 7pm. Twenty-four talented contestant­s vie for the $1000 first, $500 second, and $250 third place prizes. Audience votes decide who wins. It will be $15 General Admission. Their grandparen­ts are Randy and Barbara Burkhart of Calhoun, Sammy and Barbara Burkhart of Calhoun, Sammy and Denise Philips of Ringgold and Jack and Joy Thacker of Adairsvill­e. creation by Randy Vader and Jay Rouse, will be presented November 9 & 10, 2012 in the Ratner Theater located in the Harris Arts Center.
