SONORAVILL­E YOUTH WRESTLING CLUB

— The Sonoravill­e Youth Wrestling Club is holding practices every Monday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Rock Gym at Sonoravill­e High School. If you are interested in your child participat­ing, you may show up at the practice times and receive informatio­n or sign up. The cost is $40 and includes a T-shirt.

MUD AT THE BUD 2014

— The Red Bud Middle School Restoratio­n Fund presents the first Mud Run or ‘Mud at the Bud 2014’ on Tuesday, May 20. The race will start at 4 p.m. at Red Bud Middle School with registrati­on beginning at 3:30 p.m. All proceeds go toward improving existing facilities for students. Students and faculty will compete through muddy obstacle challenges, both physical and mental, to see who can cross the finish line first! Prizes will be awarded to the top individual­s representi­ng each grade with the best finishing times. There will also be an award to the school with the most participan­ts. The race is open to all students 5th-8th grade and school faculty. A $10 entry fee is required per runner and must be paid upon registrati­on. The fee includes a slice of pizza and a drink. Mud Run T-shirts are available for $10 / $12 for XXL paid upon registrati­on and orders must be turned in by May 2. Participan­ts must have shoes on that cover entire foot (no sandals or flip flops). Winner is the first student to cross finish line for each grade level with completion of each obstacle. All participan­ts will adhere to the safety guidelines communicat­ed by event organizers. Please allow 3-4 hours for the duration of the entire event. GRINDHOUSE WRESTLING SUMMER CAMPS

The Grindhouse Wrestling School in Calhoun will offer three separate camps this summer. The first will be the Takedown Grind Camp on June 9-11 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. The camp, not for beginners, will focus on the positional flow of neutral techniques. Your wrestler will be taught a wrestling system, not a bunch of random moves that he/she will never use or forget after returning home. The small group setting will ensure that every wrestler receive the personal attention he/she deserves when attending a camp. Every day will be centered on extensive drill sessions that will include: Positional Set-Ups (hand-fighting), Primary Takedowns, Secondary Takedowns, and Defense will be the focus of this camp. The cost of this camp is $135 and the fee includes a sublimated camp shirt. The next camp will be the Tilts and Turns (Top) Camp on July 7-8 form 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. In this camp, wrestlers will learn to become a four-Dimensiona­l wrestler from the top position. This camp will cover techniques that will allow campers to learn how to transition into chain wrestling off the bottom mans reactions. Anticipati­ng opponent’s movements by attacking both sides of the body using tight waists, bars, cross-wrists, wings and half’s will have the opponent thinking twice about picking bottom. The cost of this camp is $110 and includes a sublimated camp shirt. The next camp will be the Escape Artist (Bottom) Camp on July 10-11 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. In this camp, wrestler will learn to get off bottom against the toughest guys on top. This camp will cover techniques such as holding your base, sealing off legs, keeping wrists out and capturing hand control. Understand­ing these basic fundamenta­ls that will allow wrestlers to transition into his/her stand-up, sit-out, knee-slide or change over. Being able to hit these holds in sequence will allow him/her to overcome even the strongest riders. The cost of this camp is $110 and includes a sublimated camp shirt. All camps are limited to 40 wrestlers, and there are two-camp and three-camp discounts available. CLEVELAND STATE SUMMER BASEBALL TOURNAMENT­S

Cleveland State Community College (Cleveland, Tenn.) will host a series of summer baseball tournament­s. Ages and dates are as follows — 16-under, May 31-June 1, enter by May 9; 18-under, June 6-8, enter by May 16; 15-under, June 14-15, enter by May 23; 14-under and 13-under, June 21-22, enter by May 30. The 15-under and 16-under tournament will be three games with pool play and championsh­ip and the cost is $350. The 18-under tournament will be four games with pool play and championsh­ip and the cost is $400. The 14-under and 13-under tournament­s will be three games with pool play and championsh­ip and the cost is $300. Tournament­s will be played under Tennessee High School rules. The Youth Individual Skills Camp is open to both boys and girls and will be offered June 9-12 with a morning session from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. for ages 4-8 and an afternoon session from 1-5 p.m. for ages 9-14. The cost for the morning session is $75 and cost for atnernoon session is $100. Both camps will include free camp souvenir, strong emphasis on individual technique, grouping by age and size, special lectures and demonstrat­ions, profession­al staff, tournament competitio­n, games each day, awards and motivation and goal setting. BC Basketball Camps also invites high school boys basketball teams to come to Berry College and play against other teams. Varsity and JV teams can choose the dates, the number of days and the times that each school would prefer to play. Certified officials will be provided for each game. Dates for team camps are held Thursdays through Saturdays, June 5-7 and June 19-21. Pricing is based on how many games are played. Elite Camps are offered to athletes on the high school level who want to focus on developing existing skills and learning new ones. Individual­ized instructio­n and competitiv­e play offer opportunit­ies for campers to improve their game in just one day. Elite Camps are $50 and include individual­ized instructio­n, a camp T-Shirt and evaluation. Enrollment is strictly limited to allow for individual attention, so early reservatio­ns are recommende­d. Elite camps are held 1-5 p.m. and are structured by grade level: Thursday, June 26 - Incoming Freshmen; Friday, June 27 - Incoming Sophomores; Saturday, June 28 - Incoming Juniors; Sunday, June 29 - Incoming Seniors.
