A number of local churches and businesses are teaming up to feed the homeless for Christmas. A free, hot meal will be served to those in need Christmas Day, Dec. 25, at the Voluntary Action Center Community Kitchen from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The VAC is located at 343 S. Wall St. in Calhoun.

Friends of the Calhoun-Gordon County Library now have a small used bookstore inside the library. Hours of operation are Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The funds generated by the sale of used books go to support library programs, according to the Friends of the Library, which is accepting members.
Story times at the Calhoun-Gordon County Library, 100 N. Park Ave. in Calhoun, are 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The VAC Christmas Program is collaboration between VAC, Calhoun City Schools, Gordon County Schools and Gordon EMS who work together to ensure children have a Merry Christmas. As in years past, parents/ guardians must complete two (2) classes offered at the VAC on or before 11/26/14. The schedule of classes and applications are available at the VAC, located on Wall Street in Calhoun. Call 706629-7283 for more information.
