Later in the evening, worshipers will be coming to the alter at midnight as their first Christmas Day event. Singing of familiar carols, with a celebratio­n of the Eucharist or Communion, sometimes called the mass, will include a sermon, at 10:30 p.m. Visitors are invited to attend either worship service and all present are invited to receive the Communion. St. Timothy’s Church is located at 224 Trammell St, two blocks from the courthouse in Calhoun.

Free classes for parents of elementary age children are being offered at Calhoun First United Methodist Church through the Georgia Methodist Children’s Home. The classes will be held on Wednesday nights beginning Jan. 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Snack Room of the Christian Activities Center (the Gym building), and will run for six weeks. Attendees may have Wednesday Night Supper during the class. The class curriculum, entitled Active Parenting, will cover subjects such as Disciple, Peer Pressure and Getting Your Children involved socially, to name a few.
