HARBIN CLINIC ZOMBIE-THON REGISTRATI­ON

— The fastest, flesh-eating 5K returns to Northwest Georgia this fall, and for runners and walkers alike, the Harbin Clinic Zombie-thon is the best way to test your survival skills against zombies invading downtown Rome. Registrati­on is open for the 5K and Health Walk slated for October 24, and with the Harbin Clinic Apocalypti­c Block Party on Broad Street to follow, the night of family-friendly events will immerse Rome and Floyd County in the Halloween spirit. Zombiethon 5K event proceeds benefit local parks and recreation­al programs and services. The 5K and apocalypti­c block party is coordinate­d through the partnershi­p efforts of the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority and the Downtown Developmen­t Authority. WILLARD NIXON SPORTS HALL OF FAME GOLF TOURNAMENT

— Registrati­on is now open for the Willard Nixon Sports Hall of Fame Golf Tournament on Thursday, Oct. 29 at Stonebridg­e Golf Course, which benefits the John Pinson, Jr. Student Athlete Award Scholarshi­p Program. Team Entry is $440 and covers green fees, carts fees, range balls, lunch and two mulligans per player for a team of four. Hole sponsorshi­ps are also available for $100 or $75 when purchased with a team entry. Contests include Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and Hole in One. GORDON CENTRAL PRESEASON BASKETBALL CAMP

— The Gordon Central High boys and girls basketball programs will host a preseason basketball camp Oct. 31-Nov. 1 for children in grades 1st through the 8th. The camp will be 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Players will learn fundamenta­l skills of dribbling, passing, shooting and defense to get a great jump start on the season. The cost per camper is $30 and each camper will receive a Gordon Central Basketball clinic tshirt (if pre-registered), free admission to Gordon Central’s home scrimmage on Nov. 14 against Cass and floor recognitio­n at the Nov. 14 scrimmage. Deadline for pre-registrati­on is Thursday, Oct. 22. There will also be registrati­on at the door. To register, visit the Gordon Central High School front office to pick up a form. SONORAVILL­E HIGH TENNIS TOURNAMENT

— Sonoravill­e High will host a tennis tournament Nov. 7-8. The tournament is for Boys and Girls doubles ages 12-18 and the cost is $25 per person.
