Grooms Agency, insuring needs of the people

- By Shaka L. Cobb

For John Grooms, helping others achieve financial secuity is a privilege.

“The reason I’m in this business is because I love the people and you have to do what we do,” said Grooms owner of Grooms Agency, an affiliate of Country Financial.

The agency offers property, casualty, life, and financial insurance.

“We’re very good at home owners insurance,” Grooms said. “We’re an A plus rated carrier.”

He said there have been situations where tornados came through and claims were paid within five days. “We really respond to paid claims well,” Grooms said.

Homeowner’s insurance is very important. “Look at the floods we’ve had recently,” said Grooms.

“These people can be wiped out in a few moments. It doesn’t take but a second.” He continued, “But to have insurance in place, at your home, makes all the difference in the world.”

According to the Country Financial website, home insurance does not cover flood damage and flood insurance is generally only available through the National Flood Insurance Program. However, homeowners can get coverage through a federal program if their home qualifies.

On the website www. homeownersinsurance. com, it states that homeowners insurance premiums in Georgia were around $961 in August of this year, a slight increase from July when they were $956.

“A standard policy will cover the structure of the buildings on the property, the contents of the home, liability for the homeowner, medical payments and loss of use expenses,” the site states.

The site points out that Georgia has beautiful coastline, breathtaking mountains and charming cities; however, it also comes with some severe weather that could seriously threaten homes. Standard Georgia homeowners insurance typically comes with wind coverage. The website suggests keeping that coverage in case a tornado comes through.

When asked the reasons that insurance premiums are high, Grooms said claims are one of the primary reasons.

“Claims in the whole general area has caused rates to go up,” he said. “That’s what happened in North Georgia with all the tornados coming through in the last several years that has caused rates to go up.”

Grooms, who has over 30 years of experience and has been with Country Financial for 14 years, also offers financial services and life insurance.

“All you have to do is pay one death claim and you’ll see how important it is to have life insurance,” Grooms said.

To Grooms, there is nothing like seeing a family that could be devastated by a loss be able to live the same lifestyle after a loss, because the person that passed away set up some type of plan to keep them financially stable.

Grooms invites anyone looking for insurance services to come see him.

“Some people feel their financial affairs are in pretty good shape, and wonder whether it is worth their time to meet with me,” Groom states on his website www.countryfinancial. com/ john. grooms. “Others feel that their situation is in a bit of a mess and hesitate to share their information with anyone outside their family.”

Either way, according to Grooms, there is nothing to lose by sitting down with a trained expert for a confidential, in- depth review, whether you have met with him before or not.

“When you work with me, you get a oneon- one relationship and the added support of a team of experts. I get to know you and your family, and can clearly communicate your needs while working with a team of specialists to prepare a plan that meets your goals,” Grooms said.
