Regional commission group prepares for audit
The Northwest Georgia Regional Commission Council held its final meeting for the year on Thursday, Oct. 15.
David Austin, Chairperson of the council, said they met all the meeting requirements and usually skip November and December because of the holidays.
“I’d like to thank those that served and everything you’ve done for the council,” Austin told members.
Executive Director Lloyd Frasier told members that the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Workforce division, notified them that it’s time for an annual audit.
“We will provide data and information they have requested for their onsite audit with us,” Frasier said.
He said the auditor would be on site for a week beginning on Nov. 20. There will be five different agencies. Frasier said he’s expecting the audit to cover everything, but the council is glad to do it.
“Sometimes issues are identified and we want to be able to address those things,” he told members.
After the audit, the division will provide an exit conference to the council.
“We’ll be ready for them when they come,” he said.
A nominating committee for 2016 officers was assigned at the meeting. They are responsible for nominating members to fill the chairperson, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer seats.
Those nominated are Mike Babb, Whitfied County Commission Chairman; Bill Simonds, Fannin County Commission Chairman; Boyd Austin, Mayor of Dallas; Brittany Pittman, Murray County Commissioner; David Hammond, Calhoun City Councilman; Jason Winters, Chattooga County Commissioner; Ken Gowin, Mayor of Tunnel Hill and Steve Taylor, Bartow County Commissioner.
The next meeting will be held on January 21, 2016.
