Week of Oct. 11

Farmville United Methodist Church will be hosting a Chicken & Dumpling supper on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, from 4 – 7 p.m. Meal will consist of chicken & dumplings, cornbread, dessert & drink. Price is $6, eat in or carry-out (no drink with carryout). Proceeds will go to our Building Fund. We are located at 6906 Fairmount Hwy (across from the Dollar General store).

On Saturday, Oct. 17, New Echota United Methodist Church, located at 488 Red Bud Road in Calhoun, will be having their Annual BBQ Drive-In. From 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., come drive thru and get a BBQ sandwich, slaw, chips, pickle and dessert for only $7. After the BBQ, the church will host JAMMIN 4 JESUS from 3 – 7 p.m. at the church pavilion. Bring your lawn chairs and come join us for an afternoon of Jesus Music. All are invited and all are welcome.

Week of Oct. 18

St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, located at 224 Trammell Street, will welcome Carl McColman as the second guest speaker in their lecture series, entitled The Once and Future Christian. McColman will participat­e in an evening discussion of “Our Church in the 21st Century” from 5 until 7 p.m.

Oakman/Ranger United Methodist Church will have their Benevolent Breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 24 starting at 7 a.m. Country ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, grits, gravy ( red eye and cream) homemade biscuits, jellies, jams, preserves will be served, along with coffee and juices. All of the proceeds go for the church’s benevolenc­e programs so you will get a great breakfast and help others. The church is located on Oakman Road in Oakman.

Calhoun Community Church, an official EchoLight Cinemas partner location, will present the award- winning film “One Generation Away” on Saturday evening, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m.. Winner of 5 Dove Awards and awarded Best Documentar­y in the 2015 Christian Worldview Film Festival, this timely movie reveals how quickly First Amendment freedoms can disappear if Americans do not remain vigilant to defend them. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 8: 30 p. m., which includes a question and answer session with Director Ken Carpenter, Sen. Chuck Hufstetler, and Sen. Josh McKoon, the sponsor of Georgia’s Religious Freedom Restoratio­n Act (SB 129).

Week of Oct. 25

Maranatha Baptist Church, located on Highway 225 in Calhoun, will be having homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 10:45 p.m. The special guest singers will be the Jordan family.

Week of Nov. 8

Calhoun First Baptist Church will have their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Christian Life Center. We will have a Sugar Plum Bakery, a delicious dinner served from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for $6 per plate. We are also going to have space for craft vendors – cost is $25.00 per vendor per booth.
