Calhoun-Gordon County Library will host a traveling exhibit from the Bandy Heritage Center entitled “Thread by Thread”. This particular exhibit features photographs from the Center’s Carpet and Rug Institute Collection demonstrating how techniques used in the chenille bedspread industry were transferred to the manufacture of tufted carpet. The exhibit will be on display at the library from Oct. 19 to Nov. 30 during regular hours. During this time, the public is invited to come by the library and view the exhibit. The Bandy Center’s executive director, Dr. John D. Fowler, believes that this exhibit “demonstrates the importance of the tufted textile industry to the region’s economy over time, and it showcases the contributions of thousands of North Georgians in transforming a local hand-made industry into the vast manufacturing enterprises we see today. This is an important story for the region and one of great pride for its citizens.”
