“Synovus leaders throughout Georgia are joining local elected officials in their markets to visit and read to Pre- K center classrooms,” said Tarpley. “This visit is an opportunity to not only partner with our legislators, but to also show our company’s support for Pre- K education.”

The students and staff of Brighter Tomorrows enjoyed having Meadows as a guest.

“We are excited because we’re the only private Pre-K in Gordon County that is lottery funded,” said Carol Trowbridge, Director of Brighter Tomorrows. “It really benefits our children in the county to be able to go to the four- year- old PreK classes, and it’s free because it is Georgia funded.”

received shortly after 5 p. m., concerning a boy that had struck face first into the rear bumper of a truck parked in the area.

A witness observed the go- kart doing laps around the parking lot of the new recreation department by the football field. The boy then began driving the gokart straight through the parking lot in the direction of a parked truck. According to the witness, the boy never slowed down and struck the rear of the truck at approximately 15 to 20 miles per hour. The go- kart continued to travel underneath the truck after impact.

The boy’s father, who was listed as another witness, had yelled at his son prior to the impact, to “watch out for the truck.” According to the report, it appeared that the boy turned his head to look back at his father.

The go- kart driver was knocked unconscious. Gordon EMS arrived on the scene and contacted Life Force to transport the child to Erlanger. EMT’s on the scene advised authorities that the boy may have possibly sustained a skull fracture on the left side of his head. The boy was wearing a helmet, which was an open- face helmet with no face or eye shield.

At press time, the boy was being treated at Erlanger, listed in serious condition. The investigation is ongoing.
