Mark Lowry coming to the GEM this Saturday
According to the GEM Theatre, there are still great seats available for this Saturday’s performance by award winning singer, humorist, author and songwriter Mark Lowry in “An Evening with Mark Lowry,” which will begin at 7 p.m. The venue is located on North Wall Street in downtown Calhoun.
“This will be a fantastic show,” said GEM Theatre Manager and Marketing Director Kim Brazell. “You will laugh, rejoice and laugh some more!”
Known and loved around the world, Lowry is a trusted voice in gospel music. As the lyricist for “Mary Did You know?”, Lowry produced one of the most popular modern Christmas songs in recent history. He has also spent more than 20 years as the baritone singer for the Grammy Award winning Gaither Vocal Band, and also serves as the comedic sidekick for Bill Gaither during live concerts and videos from the best-selling Gaither Homecoming television series.
Lowry, who was born in Houston, Texas, often uses anecdotes of his young life in his comedy, as well as speaking of his experience with hyperactivity and Attention Deficit Disorder in his performances. Lowry is a self-described “Poster Boy for Hyperactivity”. His solo work includes a long list of recordings and DVDs reflecting a wide range of influences, including: “Mark Lowry On Broadway”, “Mark Lowry Goes To Hollywood”, “Life Gets Loud”, “I Love To Tell the Story,” his first all-hymns recording, “Unplugged and Unplanned”, “Whatcha Need”, “Unforgettable Classics” and most recently, “How We Love.”
Tickets can be purchased from the GEM Theatre Box Office, which is open Thursday from 4 - 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and online at www. calhoungemtheatre.org.
