Week of Oct. 12
The Wings Over North Georgia air show headlining the USAF Thunderbirds and GEICO Skytypers demo teams is scheduled for Oct. 18-19 at Rome’s Russell Regional Airport. We are very excited to announce the 2014 Wings Over North Georgia air show and Smoke-n-Thunder BBQ Classic weekend continues to get bigger by extending the Saturday air show and BBQ Classic operating hours into the evening. The Saturday evening events begin immediately after the last aerial day performance concludes around 5 p.m. ending with a mini-night air show and fireworks grand finale.
The Bohannon Family Reunion will be held Sunday, Oct. 12 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the meal at 1 p.m.. In event of rain it will be moved to Sonoraville Baptist Church.
Week of Oct. 26
CHS Class of 1974 will hold its 40-year reunion on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Coosa Country Club. Habitat for Humanity will be having a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m., at the Calhoun Depot in Downtown Calhoun for anyone interest in a Habitat house. Habitat is a Christian organization that builds homes for deserving eligible families that need affordable housing. Should you have any questions, please call Lana Young at 706625-9929.
Week of Nov. 2
First Thursday Book Club: Join the discussion on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Classic Kitchen Restaurant, 203 Richardson Road, Suite 110, in Calhoun, starting at 7 p.m. Come a little early to order dinner. We will discuss “The Museum of Extraordinary Things” by Alice Hoffman. The Library Journal states, “Coralie Sardie works for her father, the “professor” and impresario of the Museum of Extraordinary Things, a freak show in Coney Island. ... Hoffman blends social realism, historical fiction, romance and mystery in a fast-paced and dramatic novel filled with colorful characters and vivid scenes of life in New York more than a century ago.” All are welcome.
