Week of Oct. 12

Boone Ford Baptist Church will have a tent meeting on the hill located behind the church on Oct. 16, 17 and 18, starting at 6 p.m. nightly. Old-time preaching and singing each night. Hwy 411 will be singing on Oct. 16 and 17 and the Glory Bound Travelers will be singing on Oct. 18. The singers from Boone Ford will also be singing nightly. Preachers will be called from the floor. The Lee University Singers will appear in concert at Calhoun Community Church on Oct. 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. The choir, a 53member touring ensemble, is led by Dr. Brad Moffett and travels nationwide and around the world to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ through song. This year, the Singers celebrate 50 years of music ministry and excellence. What do the Jewish Fall Feasts have to do with the New Testament? On Sunday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m., Merrell Tellis of Light of Messiah Ministries in Atlanta, will answer that question as he presents, “The Gospel in the Jewish Fall Feasts” at Sugar Valley Baptist Church. Tellis will explain how the current conflict in the Middle East, part of a much larger conflict that began thousands of years ago, ties into Biblical prophecy at 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19. The youth group at First Presbyteri­an Church, Red Bud Road, wants to make a difference in the lives of at-risk children in the area. They are leading the community in PROD (Prevention and Relief of Domestic Violence) and will be collecting the listed items for victims of domestic violence. If you would like to donate, place any of the following items in the box in the Gathering Room of the church: cleaners, trash bags, trash cans, dish towels, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, soap, deodorant, hair spray, razors, feminine care items, lotion, diapers, baby wipes, laundry detergent, aspirin, Band-Aids, children’s cold medication, Wal-Mart gas cards, McDonald’s gift certificat­es, etc., and canned items (such as soup, ravioli, etc.). “Thank you for your help,” a spokesman said.
