their care provider and added services, including the addition of robotically assisted surgery to minimize scarring and recovery time,” said Norton. “From the hospital’s perspective, we wanted to solidify the fractured OB/ GYN services in the area to ensure that we were meeting the needs of the patients.

The community will also benefit from the additional services provided. “We will be offering 3D ultrasounds for our expecting patients in addition to prenatal care and annual female exams,” said Norton. “Furthermore, we will be conducting Pap testing, LEEP and colposcopy procedures as well as robotically assisted surgery.”

The roboticassisted surgery at Gordon Hospital offers huge benefits to local healthcare. “Patients now have access to advanced services without the trip and logistics needed to travel to Atlanta or Chattanooga,” said Norton. “With six providers under the same Gordon Physician Group umbrella, we can expand services as there is more volume to support expensive t echnology l i ke robotics. Additionally, the combination will allow each physician to better sub- specialize in certain procedures that they are passionate about.”

Patients of the former practices will find that there will be no change in making appointments or requesting information from their current providers. “We have made the merger as seamless as possible for patients,” said Norton. “Besides some new governmentrequired paperwork for their first visit with the new group, existing patients shouldn’t notice a difference. Medical records of each facility will remain intact and will be available to their care provider after the merger.”

The new facility will be housed in the current Calhoun OB/ GYN building, located at 170 Curtis Parkway NE, Suite 1 in Calhoun. Beginning November 7, the practice will assume its new identity as Northwest Georgia Women’s Care.

Patients can access the office via the patient- portal, the group’s website ( www. gordonhospital. com/ clinics) or by phone at 706- 879- 5770.

“We are very excited about this merger,” said Norton, “and what it will mean to the women of the greater Gordon County area.”
