Jayhawk Music & Art Festival on Aug. 5 will benefit Children's Advocacy Center

The inaugural Jayhawk Music & Art Festival is slated for Saturday, Aug. 5, and the proceeds will go towards benefittin­g the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit.

The Jayhawk Music & Art Festival was created in memory of the organizer’s late father, Jay Burgess.

The festival will take place from 10 a. m. to 8 p. m. at the Pigeon Mountain Grill at 18381 Ga. Highway 193 in Chickamaug­a.

The event is free to the public, but donations towards the Children’s Advocacy Center are appreciate­d, organizer Vic Burgess said.

Anyone interested in having a space for artwork and/ or sponsoring is asked to email Burgess at Connection­sburgess@ gmail. com.

The event will feature regional artisans and artists as well as live music from Mic Harrison & The High Score, Tommy Womack, Sweet GA Brown, The ExLaws, Kidd/ Shaw, Small Town Rumor, Bob Carty, Un Amigo, Muletide, Marlon Murphy, Michael Teague, Corey Alan Rose Band, plus many more.
