DOT veteran named new assistant District Six engineer
CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Transportation is proud to announce the selection of Grant Waldrop as Assistant District Six Engineer. Waldrop assumed his new responsibilities on November 16th. In addition to being District Six Traffic Engineer, Grant will be the face of Georgia DOT in northwest Georgia along with District Engineer Dewayne Comer, working with local and state lawmakers, chambers of commerce, business leaders and the public in the 17 county area. He also will work with GDOT’s adjoining state departments of transportation including Tennessee and Alabama. He has been the District Six Traffic Engineer for over three years. With a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree f ocusing on Transportation, Waldrop began his career with the Georgia Department of Transportation in 2004, and was promoted t hrough various Transportation and Traffic Engineering positions.
“Grant is an excellent employee. He works well with others and understands our district’s work in great detail. His leadership skills, attention to details and thoroughness in everything he does will help keep District Six moving forward with delivering the best transportation services to the northwest Georgia citizens on time and on budget. He is a people person who will facilitate our work in coordination with local officials in northwest Georgia,” explained DeWayne Comer, district engineer at the DOT office in Cartersville.
Grant and his wife Kimberly are the proud parents of two sons and one daughter; Bryce Waldrop age 12, Riley Waldrop age 9, and Jayde Waldrop age 6. The family lives in Temple, Georgia where they raise sheep on their small farm.
The Georgia Department of Transportation has seven district offices that operate and maintain the state transportation system at the local level. Each district has a district engineer who plans, organizes and directs district activities. Districts are subdivided into area offices that are overseen by an area engineer.
