Annual 4-H Christmas Party serves up lots of cheer
Need a Computer Winners: Dalton and Savannah Lowery, Evan Leigh Stringer. milk- based drink, like a smoothie or milkshake. Those youth were Austin Bates, Addie Black, Keira Bryson, Faith French, Hannah Jones, Rebekah McElrath, Lily Perez, Mollie Roberts, and Kyra Stafford. Each participant received a t- shirt for their participation. The top two Junior ( 7th and 8th grade) winners were Addie Black and Rebekah McElrath. The top two Cloverleaf ( 4th- 6th grade) winners were Mollie Roberts and Austin Bates.
In another recipe contest, Peanutrition, four youth entered recipes for a no- cook peanut snack or a snack containing peanut butter. The four participants were Austin Bates, Addie Black, Hannah Jones, and Lily Perez. First place junior winner was Addie Black and first place Cloverleaf winner was Lily Perez.
Additionally, each year the Georgia 4- H Technology Team hosts a computer giveaway in which twenty families across the state that are in need of a desktop computer at home are selected to receive a computer based on their participation in 4- H, as well as an essay and a recommendation letter. Three Gordon County 4-H’ers were named winners of the Georgia 4-H Need a Computer Contest, Dalton and Savannah Lowery, and Evan Leigh Stringer.
Following the business meeting, 4- H’ers got to decorate cookies and drink hot chocolate and then participated in a Christmas gift project, where they each brought two gifts less than $ 5 each, one to donate to a child in need and one to play a gift exchange game.
