Three new Gordon County firetrucks placed into service with Push In Ceremony
Three new Gordon County firetrucks were placed into service on Tuesday, Jan. 23 with special Push In ceremonies at Gordon County Fire & Rescue Station 1 on Public Safety Drive off of Belwood Road; Station 5 in Resaca and Station 6 in Red Bud, where the new trucks will be housed.
The tradition of a push in dates back to the 1800’s and early 1900’s when firefighters used horse- drawn engines, which could not be easily backed into their housing buildings by the horses after being called out on service, resulting in the firefighters having to push the engines back in.
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of the three new firetrucks in August 2016; they were paid for by 2012 voter- approved SPLOST funds
