Three new Gor­don County firetrucks placed into ser­vice with Push In Cer­e­mony

Three new Gor­don County firetrucks were placed into ser­vice on Tues­day, Jan. 23 with spe­cial Push In cer­e­monies at Gor­don County Fire & Res­cue Sta­tion 1 on Pub­lic Safety Drive off of Bel­wood Road; Sta­tion 5 in Re­saca and Sta­tion 6 in Red Bud, where the new trucks will be housed.

The tra­di­tion of a push in dates back to the 1800’s and early 1900’s when fire­fight­ers used horse- drawn en­gines, which could not be eas­ily backed into their hous­ing build­ings by the horses af­ter be­ing called out on ser­vice, re­sult­ing in the fire­fight­ers hav­ing to push the en­gines back in.

The Gor­don County Board of Com­mis­sion­ers ap­proved the pur­chase of the three new firetrucks in Au­gust 2016; they were paid for by 2012 voter- ap­proved SPLOST funds
