The Fu­ture He­roes Schol­ar­ship Pro­gram has been es­tab­lished by Owen Se­cu­rity So­lu­tions to pro­vide schol­ar­ships to the chil­dren of first re­spon­ders to at­tend the col­lege of their choice. The $500 schol­ar­ship is awarded an­nu­ally to a stu­dent in North Ge­or­gia who has demon­strated scholas­tic achieve­ment, civic en­gage­ment and lead­er­ship in his or her com­mu­nity. Oostanaula School Com­mu­nity Club, lo­cated at 1595 Oostanaula Bend Road SW in Cal­houn, will be hold­ing Jan­uary Jam­boree on Satur­day, Jan. 27,

2018 fea­tur­ing Blue­grass groups High­way 411 and Barb­wire & Roses. A home-cooked meal will be served at 5 p.m. for $6 per plate, which in­cludes a drink and dessert. Mu­sic will be­gin at 6 p.m. Cake­walks and auc­tion to fol­low. Come out and en­joy the first event of the new year at the lo­cal com­mu­nity club who has been spon­sor­ing events to help peo­ple in the com­mu­nity for more than 44 years.
