Local library to host Black History Month program
Come celebrate Black History Month by stepping back in time with Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad! On Tuesday, Feb. 6, the Calhoun-Gordon County Library is hosting a special program at 7 p.m. This program is presented by historical actress Joanna Maddox in partnership with Calhoun-Gordon County Public Library and the GEM Theatre.
Joanna Maddox has appeared in numerous national television programs including “In the Heat of the Night” and “The Tonight Show,” with Jay Leno. Her Divas Tribute, “Lessons from the Divas” has taken her from Las Vegas, Nevada to Paris, France. She performs in schools, festivals, universities, museums, libraries, churches and theatres nationwide.
“It is my belief that we can be inspired by those who lived before us, who despite the obstacles they faced in life continued to pursue their dreams,” said Maddox. “Children need to be inspired to dream, achieve and believe in themselves.”
Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, Feb. 6, 7:00 p.m. for this free family event. If you are unable to attend in the evening, Maddox will be presenting her program at the Dalton – Whitfield County Public Library at 2:00 p.m.
