Solving the immigration problem

-

During my career, I was successful because I was able to solve problems. The political party system of the U. S. Congress prevents the Congress members from solving most problems. They have a built- in philosophy that forces them to be against anything that the other party proposes. To the politicians, protecting and promoting the party is more important than the protecting the country.

Sometimes I wonder if it would not be wise to abolish the political parties and force each member of Congress to vote their own positions instead of having party bosses deciding the party position on every bill that comes before the Congress.

The first step in solving a problem is to collect all of the information about the problem. Many problems can be solved by putting conditions in reverse and just backing up to the place where things went wrong. This is not possible with our illegal immigration problem.

The next possibility is to analyze the facts and plot a solution that includes a prevention of a repeat of the same problem. The first step in solving our problem on our southern border is a wall with agents controlling it. Until we can stop new illegals from entering the country, we cannot solve the problems with those already present.

Entering the United States is a crime but it is not a violent crime. Driving a car above the speed limit is also a crime and most of us are guilty. We have established penalties for driving above the speed limit and there must be a penalty for illegal entry but it might not be splitting a family, sending the wage earner out of the country and leaving the children born in this country here without funds. We do not have a good temporary workers program to allow foreign workers to come into the country to work and then leave. With crops that are harvested by hand, temporary workers are needed. With the technology we have available now, a temporary worker could be issued a card that can be traced electronically so that they can be located at any That would eliminate the gang members and the tent dwellers in California. In Georgia, most of the illegal immigrants that are here are working and they are good employees. The first step in permanently solving the problem is to locate and secure the names of all of the illegal immigrants. The Peach Pass in Atlanta requires an electronic card that will recognize the vehicle that moves into the special lanes and the agency will send an invoice to the owner for the amount of miles the vehicle was in the special lanes. We should be able to issue a temporary card with the same electronics program to the illegal immigrants that would locate them electronically when needed. Their employer would be their sponsor and responsible for them.

The recipients of the cards would be advised that it is required that they have this card with them at all times. After a certain date, all adults can be checked for identification as necessary. Citizens will have driver’s licenses or other documents to prove they should be here. Non- citizens would be required to have a temp card or they can be arrested and held for deportation.

The temp cards would be valid for a specific time period. To renew a temp card, the holder must be employed. Fruit pickers may have more than one employer at a time. If a temp card holder is unemployed at the renewal date, they should be sent back to their original country. Temp card holders must speak English or be attending classes to learn to speak our language. Employers of temp workers should have health plans available for them so that this cost does not fall on the hospital emergency rooms.

Convincing the legal immigrants to vote Republican would immediately cause the Democrats to be willing to limit and control immigration. The main reason the Democrat party wants to keep the borders open is that many immigrants vote illegally and they vote for Democrats.
