Former Calhoun standout Rierson takes spot on Academic AllDistrict Team
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) released the Google Cloud
Men’s Basketball Academic AllDistrict teams Thursday, with Georgia College sophomore
Chapin Rierson (Calhoun) earning one of the spots on the list.
Rierson was one of six student-athletes chosen to the District 3 squad, and the only one from the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). The sophomore guard owns a 3.84 GPA in Accounting, and has played and started in every ballgame this year.
A long-distance marksman, Rierson averages 9.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest. He has 12 double-digit scoring games this season, including a career-best 22 in the win over thenNo. 25 UNC Pembroke Jan. 12.
He is the third Aca- demic All-District Honoree in GC Men’s Basketball history, joining teammate Isaac Thomas in 2017-18, and Aaron Clark in 2007-08. Rierson now moves on to the Academic All-America ballot, with a release planned for March.
