The Gordon County Singing Convention will hold the spring singing on Saturday, April 24, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church beginning at 6:30 p.m., at 574 Pleasant Hill Road, in Ranger, located just off state highway 156. Singers, directors and specials are expected from the surroundin­g areas. All singers and listeners are invited to participat­e.

The Highland Rivers Health Governing Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, April 28, at 10 a.m. in the Reaching our Community Clubhouse located at 1 Goodyear Ave., in Cartersvil­le. The Girl Scouts will host a free “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” event at the Calhoun Recreation Department’s Yellow Park, Sunday, May 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. for all rising Kindergart­en and first grade girls and their caregivers/parents. Tallatoona Community Action Partnershi­p Inc. is currently accepting appointmen­ts for the LIHEAP Cooling Assistance Program for the senior households 65 years of age and older. Beginning May 3, at 8:30 a.m., the general public may begin scheduling appointmen­ts. Living Waters Ministries Church, 5730 Highway 53, will host a Mother’s Day service, Sunday, May 9, at 11 a.m., to include preaching and gospel singing.

Gordon Central High

School Baseball is hosting a golf tournament, Wednesday, May 12, at Fields Ferry, 581 Fields Ferry Drive. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. with the four person scramble beginning at noon in a shotgun start. Cost is $100 per person.

The Calhoun-Gordon County Library has curbside service available Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and book returns are available Monday, Wednesday and Friday during curbside hours.

The Anna Shaw Children’s Institute, 1201 Burleyson Road, Dalton, will provide two six-week social skills workshops for children beginning in April. A group for children age 5 to 7 will meet on Mondays, 4 to 5 p.m., from April 12 to May 17, and a group for children age 8 to 11 will meet on Tuesdays, 4 to 5 p.m., from April 13 to May 18. Each group will focus on building skills such as joining peer groups, giveand-take in conversati­ons, how to win and lose, and setting/respecting boundaries. Sessions are practice-based and designed to be fun. The cost is $20 per session.
