Holsomback heads to play at next level at Shorter
Sonoraville High senior Hayden Holsomback signed a baseball scholarship on Monday with the Shorter University.
Holsomback said of the signing: “I started playing baseball when I was three, and I never stopped playing. I always had the goal to play at the next level. I put a lot of time and effort into it, a lot of travel ball and practices…and I’m glad I get this chance to play in college now. And I get the chance to play with some of my buddies and teammates from high school which just adds even more excitement. I didn’t think I would get to play with them again after high school, but we are all going to Shorter and really looking forward to it. I’ve always been looking for the right college. I spent a lot of time looking into it. I didn’t want to go too far, and Shorter gave me a really
good offer. I appreciate this scholarship so much. It’s a chance to stay close to home which was really important to me, and I get an opportunity at a great school and a great baseball program. I’ve had a lot of people tell me not to take high school for granted because you will want to be back there once you are done.
It’s just now hitting me that it’s almost over. I don’t want it to be, but I’m excited to keep playing baseball and further my academics. I’m just grateful.”
