Reese’s: Celebrating more than 50 years of local, upscale fashion
Women from Calhoun, Gordon County and the surrounding areas have trusted Reese’s Fashion Gallery with their appearances for more than half a century, visiting the store to purchase the latest in upscale ladies clothing, jewelry and accessories.
Located at the corner of S. Wall St. and Peters St. in Gordon Hill shopping center, the store has been a popular spot for unique, high quality fashions for the savvy lady since owner Sandy Reese first started selling clothing in 1967.
Reese, a Calhoun native who has never wanted to live anywhere else, said she loves people and clothes. She wants everybody to have fun, and wants their shopping experience to be enjoyable.
“We care about our customers. I love people, clothing, and going to work every day,” she said. “We specialize in quality clothing that you don’t find in department stores. It is important that we maintain a certain standard.”
To keep up that standard, Reese finds herself going to market at least five times a year. She touches and feels everything she buys to make sure each item is of the highest quality possible while staying reasonably priced.
“If she can’t go to market, market comes to her!” said Doug Lord, sales representative.
Customers come from far and wide to visit Reese’s. There aren’t many specialty stores available, especially those with Reese’s attention to detail and dedication to her customers.
On the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic, Reese is looking forward to a return to normality, to seeing friends and customers alike.
“Hopefully social distancing is a thing of the past,” said Reese, “so our Christmas traditions may return at last.”
Reese’s will be returning to its traditional Christmas Open House alongside other shops in downtown Calhoun on Sunday with storewide savings. Purchases can be gift wrapped and alterations can be made to items as needed, and there will be gift certificates available.
Reese’s welcomes its guests to shop for a perfect gift from Santa, or a gift certificate for their loved ones. Store hours for Christmas Open House are Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Regular store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
